Get Set For The Wildest Ride of Your Life
I don't think I have ever anticipated a football game this much in my life.

I went to bed last night after catching up with several blogs and the last picture I looked at before I shut my eyes, was this:

And I woke up, from a dream, a really fuzzy one, but I remembered the details - Eboue scored a double and we beat Barca at the Nou Camp 2-1.

LOL.

It's quite hilarious how my subconscious mind retained Mr Eboue and then projected it on what I desire - a win.

Be wary of what you imprint on your brain before you sleep - it might appear in your dreams. (hahaha)

Okay so team news i.e. injury news ahead of the Barca game aren't favourable at all. Song has gone down. I'm not sure if the boss already decided that he would be the one playing in central defence with Vermaelen, but at least for now, it's pretty up in the air. All that remains is Silvestre or big Sol to fill in. Personally, I think Sol will start. I think he's got it in him to do it, and he cuts a more assured figure than the other option. The brother keeps telling me that Silvestre is more of a left back than a centre back but he prefers to play CB. Whutttt. Still, not really a great judge of things considering that in the last game, he did play at LB but Wolves didn't have anything in their locker to test him at all. Anyway, the point is, we have all sorts of trouble in the centre of our defence.

In midfield it's almost certain that it'll be Diaby and Denilson mopping up the back while Nasri drives the team forward. He only signed for us last season so this is his second season and he's been thrust into action as a replacement for our capitan, Cesc Fabregas. Large shoes to fill no doubt, but he has done well in recent games and has it in him to do a decent job. I think Walcott should start as well, and give Barca a little bit more to worry about. Bendtner's name will definitely be on the team sheet, so what remains is the left side of our attack.

Rosicky, a good candidate for that spot, is 50:50. I don't think that is unexpected at all, considering he played 90 minutes at the weekend. Since returning from injury, Wenger has given him time to slot back in, limiting intitial appearances to half an hour per game or less, used ultra sparingly. It has worked out so far, because he's been fit for the longest time possible. It's just ironic that when he was called upon to play the whole game he comes out 50% crocked. Oh moi Rosicky, I hope you make it. Regardless, I hope the boss doesn't play Eboue on the left of midfield again. A predominant right footed player will suffer greatly on the left. Walcott on the other hand, could do a decent job there (he scored against Barca with his left foot). He'll always be a danger when he cuts in a shoots, and if he cuts in from the left, he'll get to shoot with his stronger right foot, assuming we aren't depending on him for crosses. His final ball is wuzz anyway, so just shoot.

Then we have Almunia. I really don't know what to expect.

All I know is that the entire team will have to snuff out all their individual errors and create something special.

I hope the game lives up to it's billing. The worst thing that could happen is the game being over (i.e. like barca 3-0 up in 6 mins) before we have a chance to fight.

9 hours to kick off.

Dodgy Linesman Almost Proved Costly Again
Firstly, Sky Sports, please update your tables.

On the game...A 2-0 win over West Sham at home and if you looked at the scoreline alone, once again, it looks like a rather routine win, which should have been the case.

Denilson, played the game of his life tonight and got us ahead in the first 5 minutes. Now now, we keep complaining that we don't get goals in the first 15 minutes of games. Last game against Hull, we did too. That game didn't get any easier after that as well and Hull equalised from the penalty spot, from yet another dodgy decision from the ref.

The difference is, Almunia saved this one. If you can recall the Roma game last season, he couldn't save a single one. Now when it mattered a whole lot more (since we won that shootout anyway), he steps up and delivers.

This game was what the players needed. The much-maligned dudes came out and put in a great shift. Denilson wasn't his old self. Wasn't spectacular, but got his head down and did what we needed him to do and was there to finish brilliantly. Eboue was magnificent yet again and I can see why he is starting games now, whether in right midfield or at right back. His quick feet and skillful dribbling often leaves the opponent with no choice but to foul him. The downside is, we didn't make any of it count, aside from Eboue's lob to Fabregas who was handballed by Matthew Upson.

In a game where we were a man down though, having Eboue run at their defence and drawing the spot kicks was actually very smart tactical play. All credit to the player, and the manager, who unlike Zola, was spot on with all his substitutions. Diaby on for Bendtner, wasn't a straight swap because obviously, Diaby isn't a towering striker. He however, has a physical presence too and added a lot more to the midfield battles as well as defensively.

Then Nasri was taken off for Sagna with Eboue moving further forward, being the move to draw the fouls and to break up play more often to wind down the clock.

The last, Eduardo for Arshavin, was probably to lessen the agony of Shava who clearly doesn't enjoy playing centre forward at all. At times, he could have shown a little more commitment and made the run to the near post more often but didn't. Can't really think of an explanation for that.

Vermaelen got sent off with a straight red late in the first half. It was a fucking dubious decision to say the least. Fuck you Martin Atkinson. Didn't have the balls to overturn the linesman's decision to flag profuriously and FUCKING NOTHING. Couldn't see for himself either. SIMPLY NO BALLS.

So, the lads did their part today. Now it's up to Liverpool and Blackburn. It was refreshing to be the first to clear our weekend game and actually be able to put pressure on Man U and Chelsea.

FINALLY. 6 OUT OF 6.
How are Gooners feeling now? Well after going through the 5 stages of grief, I'm sure a win over Liverpool makes it all fucking better.

Thank you Liverpool. Not too long ago, we won at Anfield, thanks to Wenger's screaming half time team talk. And from there, we went on a great run to make up ground.

Now, we got a 1-0 win at home off them and that makes it 6 out of 6 points off them.

This is a very significant result, considering that Man Utd drew with Villa and Chelsea lost the Everton (hahahahaha), it sure makes the lead those 2 have at the top much smaller. For all of Ballack's bleatings, you stupid cunts beat Arsenal just to lose to Everton. I'm sure it's more satisfying to beat Arsenal but YOU DROP 3 POINTS you stinkin blue cunts.

And then there's Harry Redknapp and Steven Gerrard who were targeting third spot. With this win against Liverpool and Sp*rs losing to Wolves (yet another hahahaaha), we've put 8 points between 3rd and 4th, which is massive.

Who knew a 1-0 win against Liverpool could be worth this much.

All that remains now is to keep winning the remaining fixtures and the table could look very different at the end of the season. As Wenger will put it, we have an 'outside chance'.

On the game...
I think both teams started pretty slowly in the cold. Defensively, there were major improvements. Almunia actually showed why he dethroned Jens Lehmann and look a lot more assured at the back. He made a fantastic save from Ryan Babel's shot and that was a match winning save. The back four operated better as a unit and Clichy managed to reclaim his former self from the devil. Eboue and Clichy did very well going forward and it is obvious that in our formation, the full backs make good contributions too, and to do that, you got to be in control defensively first.

Eboue is proving to be a very useful player. The difference between him and Sagna is that he brings a lot more to the plate offensively. No disrespect to Sagna but Eboue has very quick feet and he draws the foul much more easily, save for his theatrics.

Bendtner did well. He led the line and it helps to have a big striker in place to hold up the ball and play in the rest of the attacking players. He had a couple of clear cut chances which he screwed up but you can't argue about his commitment. I hope Wenger sees that starting a striker makes a huge difference. Arshavin was doing what he does best - feeding the striker. Had Bendtner done better with the chances Arshavin gave him, we would have been a goal up sooner.

Things are looking bright again. We got the win, the top 2 who beat us didn't. And Sp*rs lost. I enjoyed that one the most. Teach twitchy Harry to not state ambitions he can't live up to. And screw Ballack.

Lastly, we all know that this win is going to be marred with Cesc's handball. Not going to give a shit. A win's a win.

Thank you Liverpool once more!!!

3 points, a clean sheet. I like it simple.
I am all about vulgarities. And I've had complaints. Oh bother.

This time though, it's vulgar for a good cause.

FUCK ME, ARSENAL KEPT A FUCKING CLEAN SHEET.

In my previous post it was rather gloomy. But yay, I was right. Desire. Desire is all it takes. Nevermind the height disadvantage. Desire. It gets you there.

Rory Delap came at us at every opportunity with ling throws to get balls into the box. If the boys learnt well from last season's game at the Britannia Stadium, it was to always go for the first ball. The way Stoke gets the ball into the net is built on a Stoke player winning the first ball and then flicking it anywhere in the sea of players for another teammate to stab it in.

And everyone all back defending that nasty throw-in went for it.

DESIRE. THAT'S ALL IT TAKES.

We took 3 points. That's all that matters now. Wenger has been talking up Arshavin and trying to get him focused on Arsenal instead of him missing out at the world cup and what a response that was. Eduardo suffered a set back just before the game, and it allowed Arshavin to slot into that lone striker role and he has done immensely well today. Who knew, that Robin's replacement, wasn't another striker but Arshavin. I don't quite know what he is. An attacking midfielder? He's just brilliant running at defenders. He has the pace and the intelligence and he had several chances for one-on-ones with the keeper, only to be denied by his first touch or his delaying of the shot.

When he didn't screw it up though, it resulted in a goal. That chance that became the goal was arguably the hardest of all the chances that were presented to him all night. He once again exhibited his zero backlift to fire the shot into the bottom corner. Brilliant.

Thomas Sorenson did pretty well in goal but was pretty powerless to avoid defeat. With Robin out, it sure looks like we've lost a penalty taker as well. Kudos to Cesc though. A penalty miss like that could destroy a person's confidence but he still manage to carry the team and get stronger and stronger. He never gave up and neither did the team and the second goal duly arrived, save for us who should have been 3-0 up at half time.

Vela came on for Rosicky and I hope it wasn't for an injury because I would most seriously flip. Vela did really well and when Fuller came on for Stoke, he was causing some problems and at one point, Traore looked to have too much on his plate and Vela came right back and swooped in a brilliant tackle to take the ball and then get back on his feat. Lovely.

Ramsey came on for Eboue who was struggling a bit and to be honest, I didn't think he would have featured as much if Eboue could continue. If we do lose Eboue though, it'll be a great shame. He was doing a really good job and is maturing a lot as a player. He was good going forward and provided good cover at the back too, providing support to Sagna, who too had a good game. I can't help but think that Eboue and Sagna link up really well, probably from their off-field relationship.

Ramsey stole the night at the end with his very well taken goal. He's always looking to score and he has and it was a fantastic strike to say the least. He's such a hottie.

If Rosicky, Eboue and Traore have injury concerns, this probably sucks a lot. Gallas looked to be struggling too. I hope the official site didn't put a hex on Rosa and Gallas by announcing that their contract extensions are imminent.

Midweek, it's Olympiacos and since we're all but assured top spot, it should be a Carling Cup team out there. They've got much to prove, especially after the defeat to Man City. Last chance for first team action before they get shipped out on loan.

All in all, a good shift put in by the boys. Desire beats the lack in height. Brilliance over brute force.

An Injury Free Arsenal Will Never Exist
After a while, you'll figure out that football ain't all about winning trophies. Completely. It's utter bullshit to Gooners who only desire trophies. Always the talk about winning trophies. Hell, even Thomas Vermaelen said:

"I just want to assure the Arsenal fans that I will give everything for this Club and I hope we can enjoy winning some trophies together next season"

Always the trophy talk. And then at the club with a trophy cabinet possibly full, people are just not happy because either it's too easy or it just sucks to play for Manchester United. I suppose for these people, money comes before trophies. Maybe Tevez might cross over to Citeh and realise that it's shit over there because you can't even win away games let alone trophies.

So it's byebye Tevez and Ronaldo. Ronaldo who hasn't exactly completed his move yet. I already predicted he'll fail his medical when they pick up herpes on their STD detection scanner, of course, if it exists.

I think it's still too early to write off Man Utd. I wonder if Ferg is fuming though, and then thinking about an early retirement heh heh.

On the Arsenal side of things, I really wonder what number Verm is gonna take. If it's '6' then Senderos is definitely off. Kolo's been linked heavily with Citeh and frankly, I have no idea how that will turn out. Now that we're all appeased with a new signing, what's to follow is not another signing but a departure. That's probably the part I hate most, save for old man Silvestre and probably the clown Eboue. Did you know he makes records in Ivory Coast? If his football career doesn't work out he has a plan B. That's quite rare in football I see.

I don't think he'll quit Arsenal if nobody comes for him and I don't see anyone making a move.

It's been rather quiet on the Adebayor front and this fellow just pisses me off on football manager. You can run around dancing when he scores for Arsenal but the goal will just be ruled for offside.

Another part of the game that is somewhat true.

Then it's quite difficult not to go touch the FM editor application and tweak things a little. What did I do? I erased every damned injury on all Arsenal players (Fab, Diaby, Dudu, Bischoff, ROSICKY) and set their injury proneness to like 2/20.

AND THEN YOU HAVE A FULLY FIT ARSENAL SQUAD.

Which exists only in a computer game. Rosa's injury proneness is like 16/20. Might as well make it 20/20.

Anyway the point is, with everyone fully fit, it's difficult to pick the first 11. There is quite a bit of depth in the squad and one that we will never enjoy in real life.

That is just saddening. We're not short on quality, we're just short on luck with injuries.

Which made me realise that Arshavin never got injured big time throughout his season. Besides the stitches he had to get from the Blackburn game and his lack of fitness when he first came. Let's hope next season will continue this way. He really changed the second half of Arsenal's season and it's still a dream to know that he'll be here for a long long time. Still feels like we got him on loan only!!

Filling in for football is my dramas. It's been forever since I watched a Singapore one but who can miss out on a Fann Wong one ahaha. (to many people's dismay I know) Being dragged out on week nights means missing episodes and guess what? Tudou has people (i.e. Singaporeans) who uploaded the series to the web. I am amazed beyond words. Chinese of the world watch Singapore dramas?

They'll always be fed with one consistent feature of Singapore shows:

sure confirm guarantee plus chop someone will act siao*.

*siao
= crazy

No one really knows that the truly crazy ones are those who seem normal and live among us.

They Only Have 1 Chicken!
I'm wondering how many of us want the current situation to be like the Amazing Race, where once per season there is a fast forward, skipping all tasks and going directly to the pit stop.

And if there was such a thing in football, who'd kill to have Arsenal skip leg 2 of the semi-finals and go directly to the final to win the ultimate prize.

At least for now, I think Portsmouth is seriously an unwelcomed distraction. I have no idea what feelings to have, going into the next game. I've said that the next game is all I live for. Now seriously? It's the next next game. On the contrary to what United fans are thinking, the tie is far from over.

The thing about Arsenal is that, when things start getting easy, like that cruising win over Boro, they take things for granted. Often where they begin the game with a lacklustre performance, and concede a goal, we all want to see how they respond and how they fight. And until the final whistle from then on they will be fighting.

Perhaps the great God of karma I prayed to saw this and the Arsenal team shall fight like no other. Reaching the finals is not something beyond them and I still believe that United fans are counting their chickens before they hatch. If they knew better, now wouldn't be the time to write off Arsenal completely. United may have 1 chicken now (since they're counting), but with another 90 minutes, they could just still have 1 chicken.

So it's up to Arsenal to hatch at least 2 chickens. If United gets another chicken, Arsenal must get 3 chickens. Just have 2 chickens more.

And it is not beyond us, provided people start playing in their best positions, and the people, fuckin PLAY. Pat Rice said in the Cesc Fabregas show that "what you lack in ability you make up with hard work". It never stops there. This bunch of dudes aren't lacking in ability. It makes the task simpler doesn't it? Just work hard. Work bloody hard. There isn't a need to overturn the cards on the individual level because they're all technically gifted. Channel that hard work into a fantastic team performace and they will overturn the cards on the team level.

They just have one more chicken!

There was another thing which crossed my mind a while ago - I mentioned that Eboue could have made a difference as opposed to Sagna. Why didn't I consider that if Eboue was deployed on the right wing with Theo on the left instead, it could actually have made a world of difference. Diaby was guilty of not trying hard enough. The boss probably put him there so that he could cover Gibbs when needed against Ronaldo but he couldn't give an arse about it. Eboue has shown that he tries. He could bomb forward with his pace and skill. The only thing he lack when deployed as an attacking player is the instincts required to make the right decisions in the final third. That is his biggest flaw. That we can accept. Diaby and his half arsed effort we just can't.

Same for Adebayor.

For the next game, it is quite certain that bendtner will start. And the lad knows that even if he scores 10 freakin goals in that game, Adebayor will most certainly start the United game. The competition for places before which pushed Adebayor somewhat is gone, with Bendtner misplacing his shooting boots ever since Adebayor came back. And the boss is still somewhat cautious over Eduardo and understandably so. Robin's in and out of treatment so Adebayor is by default, first choice.

Ibrahimovic has recently declared his interest in play in the Premier League and discounting how true it is, he will never come to Arsenal. Probably Man City or one of the 3 shits. But it doesn't kill to have another top class striker in your team and if you had an Ibrahimovic superstar in the team Ade-freakin-bayor will work his ass off, simple as that.

I'm a fan of Ibrahimovic but I think he might struggle a bit in the English game. A superstar nonetheless. Reputations too, can influence squad competition.

Silvestre raised his game last night against his old club and denied them quite well with his positioning and clearances even though he assisted O'shea. Did I ever mention how much United fans hate him? Har. I think they must have moaned and groaned when he was in the starting line up instead of Rafael. It's like us groaning about Diaby or Denilson but they fail to ever prove us wrong.

That's the difference between a team who wins and one who loses. Even the players unpopular with the fans suck it up and make the difference. The bunch of players we have belonging to that lot basically show how half-arsed they are match in, match out.

In football, the players have to be fighers.

In other news, Rio Ferdinand might have gotten a broken rib after Edwin Van Der Sar crashed into him. He's getting a scan and whatever to see the extent of the injury but we all know that it's not a broken rib but probably a bruised rib or some minor shit so it won't keep him out of Tuesday. Even though we wish and hope. They're just making headlines out of it because the BBC and Daily Fail have nothing else to report besides transforming whatever Ferguson said into Ferguson fires warning to Arsenal. Kinda made me laugh. Is that a mind game? Are Arsenal that good that you need to try and get an psychological advantage?

I BLOODY HOPE SO. Minus the part about the psychological advantage. I don't think they'll work against Arsene's magic words.

No RVP but prospects look really good. mouth-wateringly good.
The flying Dutchman will be missing the trip to Spain. Not much has been said about how long he will be out but I guess it wouldn't be that long since it was just 50-50 for this match. He could be back at the weekend for Wigan.

Anyway, looking at the Spain-bound squad, Nasri and Theo have passed fitness tests and will be in the team. It'll be an interesting line-up. I'm not one for predicting who starts because I'm either very wrong and I like to be surprised. Like when Eduardo started on his first game back etc etc.

Nonetheless, I think it's pretty much down to 2 options:
1) continue with the same formation against Citeh with Denilson and Song sweeping up in front of Gallas and Toure, allowing Cesc to go forward more, freeing up Gael and Sagna as well, with Nasri slotting into Arshavin's position.
2) Denilson partnering Cesc in the middle of the park, with Bendtner up front with Adebayor.

I think the boss will go with option 1. Bendtner and Adebayor are too similar and it looks like charity everytime they lay the ball off to each other to run to. If you noticed, when Eboue and Bendtner were coming on for Walcott and Adebayor respectively last Saturday, Bendtner got the routine teammate double high fives while Eboue got such a warm hug. Could be read any way, but we all know the whole team loves Eboue a little bit more than the others. Eboue's everyone's BFF. Yeah. I'm super damn sure he's Sagna's too. Along with his compatriot Toure. Haha.

Eboue the bff.

Villarreal have injury problems of their own with Santi Carzorla out for the rest of the season. I've got to admit I've never heard of him before. He's their star player apparently so that could be good news. They do have Bobby Pires who is raring to go after he signed a one-year extention which he claims will be a huge motivation to beat Arsenal.

Statistics wise, it ain't too good with Arsenal's away form in Spain looking out of sorts. 6 losses from 10 games, winning 2 and drawing 2. But with the team catching on good form I'm sure statistics don't really matter.

Villa managed to play an under strength Man Utd side and failed to capitalise. Going into the game, Martin O'neill has never beaten Alex Ferguson at Man Utd. And after yesterday, they still haven't.

Tomorrow night, Arsenal will show Villa why they're not Champion's League material. We will record a win in Spain.

Arsenal 1 Roma 0 but I'm still pissed as hell.
We take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of the round of 16.

On paper it's a fantastic result, considering all the goalless draws as of late. We'll take a 1-0 any time.

On the other hand, if you're a fan watching the game you just want to smash the TV/laptop/everything smashable. Why?

Because there are people like Eboue, Song, Denilson and Bendtner in the team. This bunch haven't had an inkling of what the hell to do with the bloody ball in the final third. Like clueless. It's like they've never played in that part of the pitch or Idonnowhatyoutellme.

I'm angry because we so easily could have had at least a 2-goal cushion. All this misses - sitters I would call, could come around and bite us in the back.

The Roma defence gifted Eboue a present and he managed to screw it up. I'm sure he wants to redeem himself with the fans. I'm so sure of that. He is playing on the right wing and he doesn't know what to do with the ball when he gets it in the final third. Absolutely clueless.

And then Bendtner. Gosh. These days my ass is stuck onto the sofa. There isn't any need to rise, or rise partially to almost celebrate would-be goals because they're not going in. It's that simple. Save me the extra energy to sit my ass back down. Sickening. So I'm wondering if he's a striker because a striker doesn't miss shots like that. I have no idea what the hell he is. A pussy maybe. i don't know.

All the negative trash talking aside, I thought Diaby did well. If he got injured and needed another lay off I wouldn't be surprised. but he did well and he kept the ball well in the final third and it's a good performance after being out. I'd have him any day over Song.

Denilson + Song = sideways passing 99%

Then the 1% tried to pump up front ends up with someone who isn't wearing a red shirt.

When Cesc is in midfield he is the chief of assists. With these two I wonder what the hell they are doing in midfield.

So defensively I thought we did well. Gallas and Toure can play together and perform. Finally. Finally this isn't a good only on paper description again. Sagna is ever such a gem.

Nasri's true position is really through the middle but that shifted Bendtner out on the left. Bendtner doing defensive work is kinda scary. And he played totally out of position and when Nasri/Clichy/Sagna crossed into the box he should be the one there to head it in (ASSUMING HE DOESN'T MISS).

Then of course, RVP. If not for him I think the whole team can buang. He won the game for us.

I like Philippe Mexes. And Totti.

Anyway, I think either I have a jinx of a friend who watched all the goalless draws (hence why we draw) or I have a lucky shirt. I wore it today. It's like I wear any other jersey and they screw up the result. I wear this one and they win. That's kinda bad. I really like my other jerseys too.

It's the red training jersey.

My friend came over today and asked me how many Fly Emirates shirts I have. Many many many.

So 1-nil to the Arsenal. Finally. We waiting a long long time. But with the performance that went with it, I doubt this is the win of the season Wenger is looking for to lift the team and move off from. This team has a lot of work to do. Either that or those dudes out injured start coming back soon.

Cut the Act!

If sorry had a cure 100% of the time, then perhaps Eboue apologising for getting himself sent off should appease us all.

THINK NOT.

This is accumulated anger. And this is why he was booed. Interestingly enough, Wenger knew his player so well that he said 'Eboue will bounce back'.

This is where I say: YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKIN KIDDING ME!

(note: RVP didn't apologise when he got sent off against Stoke)

Eboue is like trying too hard to become a fan favourite. With regards to his disallowed goal, these things happen. I know Wenger has had lots to say about it but these things happen.

Sometimes, JUST SUCK IT UP AND GET ON WITH IT.

Blow one chance, don't harp on it. Try again. And don't get yourself sent off. Eboue has done a whole lot of lip service in that statement to say how much we can't lose to Sp*rs for the fans. I think he should concentrate on not getting sent off. And if he didn't play again we'll all be happy.

We could have came away with 3 points instead of 1. He really did the team no favours.

The other Emmanuel will be out for at least 3 weeks after pulling his hamstring. It looked like it hurt a damn lot watching it on the tele. Not sure we'll be wishing him a speedy recovery. His form has been out of sorts lately and I believe he doesn't deserve to be on the pitch.

It'll be some time before the next game and then the next, so Arshavin (my new love) should be fit and ready. If Adebayor leaves in the summer I wouldn't feel a thing. I cannot stand traitors. You could be the best in the world making a clean sweep of all the honours but if you suffer from itchy feet then screw you. Had Ronaldo went to Spain he might not have crashed his Ferarri. Hah.

Long long wait till the next game. I can't imagine how empty my coming weekend will be. My friends will have me and they'll be surprised. And then they'll find out there's no football and the surprise will be gone.

Should install my picture posts this week to avoid boredom and create efficiency. =x
